I had to take Ivie to the doctor yesterday. For another spider bite (this makes two in a month or so) that has become infected. Apparently she has some crazy bacteria just hanging out on her body waiting for an opening to dive right in and take over.
After the appointment, we stopped at Target to get her prescriptions filled. As we walked around the store, wasting the required 15 minutes while the pharmacist prepped the medicine, we passed the candy aisle on our way to get some bananas.
And the following (very brief, yet monstrously fulfilling) interaction ensued:
Ivie: Mommy, I love you.
Me: Awwwww, that's so sweet. Thanks, Iv!
Ivie: Do you know why I love you, Mommy?
Me: No... Why?
Ivie: Because you always take care of me.
Not sure why that was so memorable to me, because Ivie actually tells me she loves me quite often. Maybe it was because she thought it was important to tell me WHY this time. Like there was an actual reason (other than the fact that I bring her a snack after school every day and stay in her room way too long at bedtime), and she wanted to share it with me.
Just another example of why I love being a mom.
